Wearing Scars like Jewels

Stripped down to nothing. The sudden disappearance of all I knew was a living nightmare.

Dark days left me feeling adrift.

My own reflection seemed foreign.

A cloud of doubt settled, convincing me my children would be better without me.

Then, unexpectedly, my sister left this earth.

Witnessing my parents' profound sorrow broke me. My father's desperate plea, "I'd give anything to trade places," echoed deeply.

I knew I couldn't inflict that agony on them again.

Clutching my own children, I promised to shield and cherish them with all my might. Their existence depended on my strength.

I rebuilt my life, forging a future far richer than before. I became a fierce protector against any force that threatened it.

Though marked by the struggles of mind, body, and spirit, I wear my scars like jewels, unashamed, aware that they have shaped my unique identity.

Notes of Tuber Truffle, Turkish Delight, New Zealand Violet Lavender

Absince of Nothing

Ten years of lies and mind games left me shattered.

I tried to make sense of losing a whole decade.

It felt so odd, as if I had missed out on my own life.

Absince of Nothing explores what it feels like to live in a state of nothingness.

What remains when you discover that everything you thought you had was a lie?

Fighting for strength and meaning.

Until that is found….

there is nothing.

Notes of Absinthe, French Cognac, Vanilla Bourbon

Plumdemonium Cheerie

Can’t you see her hands are bound? She did not hang herself! she shrieks, her eyes fixed on the body hanging in the barn.

The detective seems lost, unaware.

She feels completely disconnected.

The cloaked woman recalls her past self, conflicting feelings tear her apart.

The pure soul has found peace but a bright spirit is forever extinguished.

Plumdemonium Ch-eerie emerges from my nightly terrors.

These came after I learned of my ex-husband’s ten-years and more of gaslighting me.

My brain could not grasp it. My subconscious took over when I slept.

I am not crazy or insane.

He twisted the truth expertly.

My former self is lost forever.

Darkness, doubt, and fear consume my mind now.

Notes of Dark Plum, Black Cherry, Barnwood, Clove, Violet, Oakmoss, Rose, Leather, Patchoulli

Date with a Dame

Date with a Dame is more an aura then a scent.

“She is beauty,

Unique and breathtaking,

Captivating and rare.

Her manner mesmerises,

Yet modesty pervades.

Knowing her is exquisite agony”

New Zealand Kumerahou, Suede, Torchwood, Anise, Frankincense, Tuberose Absolute & Musk Mallow.

Stout n’ Smoke

“Bad boys & boozy ballads”

Shirt untucked with tousled hair

Moistened lips that smell like beer

Wafts of smoke from a hard working hand

I do like a man who works the land

Crystal clear eyes that hold my gaze

My head starts spinning, Im in a daze…..

Let your imagination do the rest with the help of a long forgotten oak barrel, dry throat catching tobacco, a half finished glass of stout and a shot of whiskey for good measure.

Top Shelf

The four words “Top Shelf please Ma’am” spilled from his mouth like a sultry sugar cube, poisoned with one too many bitters.

How I wish I knew the stranger sitting in my view. Hat lay nestled on an oil scrubbed bar, worn leather overcoat just a touch more rugged than his gaze, sending prickles up my spine. I steal a glance in his direction. He looks as if he’s been riding for days, collar ashen from a fire. He slides a pipe between his parched lips. The air around him not nearly as dry, surrounded by a haze of rich smoke. My heart beats to the rhythm of his fingers drumming over the rum soaked glass. I long to caress his greasy jawbone, tattered with a hard days stubble. If he really is a good man, he’s to far outta my reach. He’s Top Shelf.

Notes of New Zealand Totara extract, New Zealand Ambergris, Burnt Amber, Leather, Civet, Ash, Onyx Musk & Tobacco Absolute.

Haute Horopito

Fashion fades….style is eternal. What you wear (or don’t wear) is how you present yourself to the world. Fashion is instant language. What is your fashion saying about you?

Being stylish with class is the example I’d like to set for my young daughter. I want her to see that mum got to where she is today in her artistic career without succumbing to the pressures of the online marketing world where the more clothes you take off the more bottles you’ll sell. I want her to know she can achieve anything without having to sell her body.

The very first from my new Soul Chemistry collection, this scent is bold, elegant, tasteful and intricate like a confident woman who knows she doesn’t have to live the “sex sells”.

Notes: New Zealand Horopito, Bruised Apple, Ravensara, Raspberry Seed, Jasmine, Turmeric Root, New Zealand Ambergris, Porcini, Teak, Whipped Butter, Amber, Oud, Musk

Blackstrap Betty

Its a state of mind, the adventurous kind

A free spirit, living to the limit

Giving her best, living her best

Rough, tough, soft enough

Daring, caring, sometimes swearing

Sometimes sassy, always classy

Bright, polite, just might if its right

A natural flirt, with just a little dirt

A deep, dark, complex & sweet melody kissed with smoke.

You may experience the notes of Blackstrap Molasses, New Zealand Silver Birch, Home brewed Espresso, Musk of Onyx, Patchouli, Butter, Cinnamon Stick and Clove.

Forevamour

It is that of an unsatisfied desire which is itself more desirable than any other satisfaction - CS Lewis

Imaginary cravings,

boundless and insatiable.

Powerless to resist,

impossible to forget.

My desire for you,

a wild and untamed craving,

a need beyond all reason.

Reminiscent of an evening spent in Paris.

Notes of: Chocolate Gateau, Strawberry Rose Liquor, Pretty Oud

Pitching Woo

Pitching Woo”, a term used in the 1930’s when love letters were written in ink and delivered by horse or carrier pigeon or personally in the flesh. To court, make love to, flatter.

Flirt over dessert with notes of peach french kissed by vintage vanilla ice cream.

That’s Amore

Juicy grapes straight off the vine, blackberry stained fingertips, violet scented brunette hair, a sunshine kissed dewy forehead from sweat & woods of New Zealand. Ive finished it off with a hand beaten and free handed “Amore” on the label like it’s a love letter from me to you from Italy.

The Forgotten Highway

My eyes still see and my ears still hear

I am still unique, but my stories will disappear.

Don’t ask me to remember or try to make me understand

Just kiss my cheek, spend time with me and hold my hand.

Ill speak of loved ones who are no longer there

Don’t be scared by my empty stare.

I don’t understand why my body seems so slow

I am confused and feel lost more than you could know.

Keep smiling at me and using my name

Live in my moments, the ones that remain.

“To love a person with dementia is to learn the song that is in their heart and to sing it to them when they have forgotten”

Dedicated and inspired by the residents who have dementia at the care and hospital facility I work at. The men and women who made the country town that I live in what it is today.

Notes of: New Zealand Fern, Silver Birch, Pecan, New Zealand Blue Lavender, Anise Hyssop & Pohutakawa

Petticoat Lane

“Straddling the divide between high-class and punk, masculine and feminine, bookish and worldly, urban and wild, very London”

Inspired by my trip to London last year winding my way through the cobblestoned alleys to encounter the luxurious cloud of exquisite perfume as you step through the door of Les Senteurs perfume boutique in Belgravia for the very first time, the leather heels at Harvey Nichols, Milroys Whiskey Bar in Soho with a hidden secret behind a bookcase, a trip to the Natural History Museum where I got to have a sneaky behind the scenes tour to sniff preserved scented treasures with a lover of Top Shelf.

Prominent Notes: New Zealand Woods, Fine Pipe Tobacco, Natural Leather, Blue Ginger, Red Tuberose, Totora Smoked Tonka, Cognac.

She’s a Kiwi Hunny

If you close your eyes

and lay still enough,

you can hear it -

the fairies singing

calling you

in melodic whispers

to newness

to adventure

to life

let go,

and run wild with me

with notes of

Musky wild New Zealand Honey,

Dazzling New Zealand Kiwifruit,

Heady Oakmoss,

tied with a sash of

Sparkling Champagne

Dynasty

My Mother kept a garden,

A garden of the heart.

She planted all the good things

That gave my life its start.

She turned me to the sunshine

And encouraged me to dream.

Fostering and nurturing

The seeds of self-esteem.

And when the winds and rain came,

She protected me enough.

But not too much because she knew

I'd need to stand up strong and tough.

Her constant good example

Always taught me right from wrong.

Markers for my pathway

That will last a lifetime long.

I am my Mother's garden.

I am her legacy.

And I hope today she feels the love

Reflected back from me.

Notes of:

Trio of New Zealand Woods, Vintage Cloth, Powder

The Typographers Daughter

In loving memory of my beautiful sister, Shari.

I cried when you passed away,

I still cry today.

Although I loved you dearly,

I couldn’t make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating,

hard working hands at rest,

God broke my heart to prove to me

He only takes the best….

I will hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven.

This perfume sparkles brightly with New Zealand Feijoa, Hawkes Bay Pear, Casablanca Lily & New Zealand Harakeke Extract.

Livin Bikini Loca

Inspired by summertime in Santa Marinella, Rome.

“Il dolce far niente” the sweetness of doing nothing.

Smell the warm salty grains of sand with one of my scented textures amongst other notes with a mix of:

Iced Hibiscus Gin, Neroli, Melon, Pistachio, Sea Salt, Palm Leaf, Heliotrope, Jasmine, Caramel & Sandalwood

Queen of Kings

After being enslaved by a bad king and sentenced to the gallows legend has it this queen fought for her freedom and won. It’s a long complicated story. Nowadays you won’t find her sitting in a castle or on a throne, because she doesn’t need those things. There are rare moments when she appears and some see her sparkle but otherwise she is happy and confident in her ordinary life. Never mistake her poise and appearance as weakness for she fights to the death for herself and the ones she holds dear, she’s gone up against many a evil man and walked off the battlefield stronger, she is Queen of Kings.

Notes of: Rhubarb, Bergamot, Pink Pepper, Tuberose, Stout, Vinyl, Vanilla, Civet
